The FX-8300 is an eight-core processor that is fully unlocked. The 64-bit support provided by the CPU is helpful for keeping your work intact. As long as it is priced in line with what AMD says the price will be this time, that all changes with Piledriver. As AMD points out, this is a processor evolution from Bulldozer. I do agree that Intel is an excellent choice but we have been using the AMD FX Series on all our servers due to cost and performance and we haven't had any issues whatsoever. I don't know if we are lucky or what the story is.
